Anime’s Biggest Eaters

When it comes to anime, there always seems to be a large emphasis on food – whether it be Naruto’s obsession with Ramen or Goku’s need to eat as much as he possibly can whenever he gets the chance. So then it would make sense that a series based entirely around food would eventually come into existence – enter Food Wars!

Food Wars! Season 1 is out on DVD and Limited Edition Blu-ray now, so we thought we’d take a look at some of Manga UK’s biggest eaters – and no, we don’t mean the staff.

Son Goku – Dragon Ball

Son Goku – Dragon Ball

When it comes to big eaters in anime you’d be hard pressed to find anyone that can out eat Goku, although some of our other choices could certainly throw down the challenge. Whether it’s before a big training session or while preparing for a fight, Goku puts all that energy to good use having saved the earth and universe on multiple occasions.

Monkey D. Luffy – One Piece

Monkey D. Luffy – One Piece

Luffy is no stranger to stuffing himself silly, so much so that he actually balloons out to incredible proportions after a large meal. Thankfully, Sanji is usually on hand to keep up with Luffy’s appetite!

Gluttony – Fullmetal Alchemist

Gluttony – Fullmetal Alchemist

Gluttony is a being whose thoughts are never far away from food. He has the ability to eat pretty much anything – it doesn’t matter if it’s poisonous, hard, soft, big or small. He loves to eat so much that he only really enjoys fighting if he can eat his opponent afterwards!

Soul Evans – Soul Eater

Soul Evans – Soul Eater

In his quest to become the next Death Scythe, Soul must collect and eat the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch. It’s certainly not a diet we’d follow but if one was to become the next Death Scythe then needs must. Soul can often be found drooling when his next meal is nearby.

Choji Akimichi– Naruto

Choji Akimichi– Naruto

Ramen obsessed Naruto would make it on this list, if it wasn’t for his good friend Choji, who certainly knows how to chow down. Rarely seen without a bag of crisps Choji takes offense at being called fat, despite it being a trait of the Akimichi clan and secret to their power.
