Live-Action Hollywood ‘Tiger & Bunny’ Movie Announced

At Sunrise and Bandai Namco Pictures’ New York Comic Con panel last Friday, some big news was announced. The popular anime series Tiger & Bunny will be receiving a new movie, and this time it’s a live-action Hollywood film, to be produced by All Nippon Entertainment Works alongside Imagine Entertainment’s Ron Howard (Director of Rush, Apollo 13) and Brian Grazer (Producer of 24, Arrested Development).

All Nippon Entertainment Works is a studio that establishes a link between Hollywood and a consortium of IP owners in Japan, in order to develop Japanese properties into English-language media projects.

Bandai Namco Pictures’ representative pointed out that the setting of the anime, Sternbild City, was modeled after Manhattan, making NYCC the perfect place to announce the adaptation. Representatives of All Nippon Entertainment Works and Imagine Entertainment were also a part of the panel, and assured fans that characters would be true to the original property. Hollywood is no stranger to corporate sponsorship, so Tiger & Bunny, with sponsorship logos emblazoned on its heroes, should feel right at home on the silver screen.
