Our Favourite Dragon Ball Z Moments!

2018 is definitely going to be a great year for Dragon Ball fans! Not only do we have more Dragon Ball Z Movie Collections and Dragon Ball Super for you, but Bandai Namco Entertainment UK are bringing you the stunning Dragon Ball Z FighterZ on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

With all this excitement, we’ve decided to look back and list our favourite moments from the series up until now! Make sure you let us know your favourites via Twitter and Facebook.

It’s over 9000!

9000

“It’s over 9000” has become an entity of its own: this iconic phrase is now one of the most used sayings among anime fans across the world. Memes aplenty have been created, and it even hit the mainstream when women’s UFC fighter Ronda Rousey appeared, alongside The Rock (Dwayne Johnson), in a t-shirt with the phrase and an image of Vegata at this year’s WWE Wrestlemania 31. In the eyes of Dragon Ball fans, this scene during the fight between Goku and Vegeta will always be one of the greatest moments in Dragon Ball history.

Super Saiyan

Goku

It’s been about 15 years since fans in the west saw Goku become the legendary Super Saiyan for the very first time. “Naturally, it’s a Super Saiyan bargain sale” has never been more true nowadays, but that very first transformation in the battle between Goku and Frieza was such a spectacle – a life changing moment, if you will. For over 15 years, fans across the world have tried to power up in the hopes that they too will turn Super Saiyan, alas none have succeeded (…so far!).

Future Trunks

Trunks

Trunks is one of the most popular characters in the series and for good reason – he’s a badass! Watching this unknown Super Saiyan instantly take down a patched up Frieza was shocking. Finding out the origin of Trunks and discovering why he had traveled through time to meet Goku and friends will always be a top moment in the Dragon Ball franchise.

Super Saiyan 2

Gohan SSJ2

With a total of four different characters being able to transform into Super Saiyans at this point, and the power it brings not cutting it anymore, it was inevitable that a higher level would be achieved. Although the character who first achieved first Super Saiyan 2 was neither Goku or Vegeta, but Gohan! The transformation, the long walk and the final showdown with Cell was nothing short of epic. Fan can’t forget the unflinching resolve and the look in Gohan’s eyes as electricity surrounds him and he nears Cell… Very little can live up to that moment!

Majin Vegeta

MajinVegeta

Vegeta’s struggles throughout the series are a pure joy to watch – each time he finally catches up to Goku he is left behind again! Seeing a chance to rival Goku’s strength, he gives in to evil, showing us not only a peek at what Vegeta was like earlier in the series, but also one of the greatest fights in the whole series between himself and Goku. Ultimately, he comes to his senses and shows off his softer side by hugging Trunks before blowing himself up in an attempt to destroy Majin Buu. Vegeta, you’re the best!
