6 Reasons Why You Should Play Fairy Tail

With over 300 episodes and 2 movies, Fairy Tail has become one of the most popular Shonen series to date. With this in mind fans have been craving a video game for years. Finally, the time has come to jump into the shoes of some of the most powerful spell casters the Fairy Tail Guild has to offer.

So why should you play the game? Is it just for the fans or will it appeal to everyone? Here are 6 reasons why you should be playing Fairy Tail when it comes out on July 31st.

Experience the epic Fairy Tail Story

It has been confirmed that the story is not your run of the mill spin-off. This game takes place in the heart of the Fairy Tail storyline and covers the Tenrou Island arc all the way to the Tartaros arc. The majority of the game you will be guiding your party of sorcerers through the Grand Magic Games, testing your skills, completing quests, and leveling up!
The story will clock in around 30 hours, meaning that you will have a decent amount to play and explore. New to Fairy Tail? Not a problem as there has been story beats added to the game to introduce you to Natsu Dragneel and the rest of the Guild.

Great List of Playable Characters

There is a total of 16 playable characters for you to get your mitts on in Fairy Tail. All with their own unique moves and play style. So if you’re an RPG player who loves to mix up their team dynamin on a regular basis then you have plenty to choose from.

Playable characters:

  • Natsu Dragneel
  • Lucy Heartfilia
  • Gray Fullbuster
  • Erza Scarlet
  • Wendy Marvell
  • Gajeel Redfox
  • Juvia Lockser
  • Jellal Fernandes
  • Kagura Mikazuchi
  • Sherria Blendy
  • Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki
  • Sting Eucliffe
  • Rogue Cheney
  • Laxus Dreyar
  • Mirajane Strauss
  • Gildarts Clive

What’s also pretty great is the more you use these characters in your party the more they will bond. This will intern unlock new story elements giving you even greater insight into the world of Fairy Tail.
The list of characters doesn’t stop with just the playable ones however, as there is a whole host of support characters which you can summon for some epic attacks!

A whole slew of customisable options

If you’re into customising, then Fairy Tail has you covered! Want to customise your character’s outfit? No problem! Do you want to change up their moves to fit your play style? Then go ahead! The list of options is huge! The customisation doesn’t stop at your party, as you’re able to customise the guild hall as well!

The Guild Hall

Speaking of the Guild Hall, it is up to you to build up its reputation! The Fairy Tail game picks up at the point where the anime has the guild try to build up its back up! (if you know about the Tenrou Island and the Dark Guild then you’ll know why). It’s up to you to build up and evolve your Guild Hall from a tiny shack to the architectural magnificence it had back in the old days of Fairy Tail.

What’s more, as you level up your guild hall more options will be available to you to level up your party, stock up on supplies, and buy some epic gear.

Classic Turn-based JRPG

Turn-based RPGs are becoming few and far between these days. Luckily Fairy Tail is kicking it old school and bringing back a turn-based RPG system that will make any gamer out there jump for joy.

Some say that a Fairy Tail game would be better as a real-time action RPG. However, the turn-based system works so well here! The UI is very intuitive and the whole battle gameplay has been compared to some great RPG systems like Persona 5.
Another great thing here is that the game encourages you to think tactically, as each move has a certain area of effect, meaning you are able to target more than one opponent at a time. There is also gauge that fills during combat that lets you unleash an epic Unison Raid combo attacks!

Explore the Kingdom of Fiore

Fairy Tail gives the player the opportunity to explore their surroundings using semi-open worlds. Meaning you will be able to relish the hustle and bustle of Kingdom of Fiore by dive deep into the merchant city of Magnolia or even exploring the majesty of the Flower Blooming capital of Crocus. Each map will give you the opportunity to complete side quests that will take you around these cities and more.

Fairy Tail will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on July 31st!
