The best characters from the 2020 Winter anime season!

As the Winter season comes to an end, we take a look at some of our favourite characters. You don’t need to be the central hero to make your mark – you can be a good friend, comic relief or even an enthralling antagonist. Read on as we take a look at some of the best characters from the Winter anime season.

Maple
BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense

Maple doesn’t want to get hurt in NewWorld Online, the VRMMORPG she’s new to, so what better to do than to put all of your skill points into defense? From episode one Maple won our hearts with her unorthodox approach to RPG playing, and watching her create a name for herself because of it has been hilarious. You can approach video games in many ways, and Maple is the perfect example of that. Keep on defending, Maple!

Shu Starling
Infinite Dendrogram

The older brother of series protagonist Ray, Shu Starling forces himself to wear a bear costume. Why, you ask? Well, when creating his avatar for MMORPG game Infinite Dendrogram, he accidentally created a character in his own likeness. To hide his identity, he hides in a bear costume. Underneath that blunder is a man with the heart that could match any bear, and his comical spirit, elderly brother attitude, and strong determination makes Shu one to keep an eye on.

Hina
Plunderer

Hina is a sweet girl who, after the loss of her mother, embarks on a journey to find the Legendary Red Baron. She’s physically weak and is naïve due to her sheltered upbringing, but her pure heart and protective personality means that she despises seeing evil acts, and will do what she can to put good into the world. She’s a kind friend, and one who keeps morales high. We need more Hina’s in the world.

Mirio Togata
My Hero Academia

Mirio was introduced in My Hero Academia Season 3, but didn’t have his chance to shine until Season 4. He’s quickly become a fan-favourite due to his shining personality, his backstory, and his Permeating Quirk. He can phase through slid objects, including people, and he’s the star of one of the most brutal, stunning fights that the superhero series has seen so far. We admire Mirio a lot. A fellow lovers of puns and wordplay, you could say we admirio him!

Hanako-kun
Toilet Bound Hanako-Kun

Hanako-kun is the star of his own anime. Yes, you can be toilet bound, and still make a strong impact! Hanako-kun is mischievous and a little childish, but has a bag of mixed emotions from his past. It’s sometimes hard to get a good read on Hanako-kun, but he’s wildly entertaining and will get laugh after laugh from you – just be aware that he doesn’t turn you into a fish!
